Its set up as an offline repository, read the readme file and it will tell you how to set it up in sources.list and to remove it when you are done.

BTW, its set up for OpenServer System. If you try to install on the desktop systems it will fail.

My first download of the addons file was corrupt, there was no readme file. I downloaded a second time and the files were there. Here is the problem I am having.

1. In the read me file it says to create a repository file with this: ' deb file:/home/username/pc-os-server-addons/ /'. So, I create a director with that name and moved files to it. I then ran ./backup.sh and typed the above line into it and saved it.

2. I ran apt-get update and here is the output:
sudo apt-get update
Ign file: Release.gpg
Ign file: Translation-en_US
Ign file: Release
Ign file: Packages
Err file: Packages
File not found
Failed to fetch file:/home/baboo/pc-os-server-addons/Packages.gz File not found
Reading package lists... Done

3. At first I thought I could ignore the msgs and do the next step but it cannot find the repository file.

Make sure you have the packages.gz file in there also its not going to update, you have to search for the packages you want. The line has to be deb file:// two forward slashes not 1.

thanks for the reply. I've now downloaded the addons file 6 times. There is no packages.gz file in the zipped file. I am using the link you provided in earlier post. Now what?

Also, the read me file example shows only one / . I know debian uses two but I am following the readme file and thought maybe you guys were doing something different.

The reason for me trying the server, is the feature set was very interesting. However, I can not install the addons and the readme file omits necessarry information. The downloadable file from ibilio does not have a file called packages.gz.

So, I've decided if it takes this much effort to configure the basics, then I will return to my old server. Hope you get these things worked out, as the server looks like it might evolve into something interesting.
