It's Gnome rather than Xfce, definitely. Was the wrong iso uploaded to the mirrors, or is this an unannounced change in PC-OS philosophy?

from distrowatch.com:

"The changes to PC/OS 2009.3 application wise are common across all releases except that Xfce 4.6 was not included in WebStation due to some issues that are being explored right now on some models of netbooks."

also distrowatch.com's "grid" shows XFCE as the default desktop.

XFCE is the norm desktop. GNOME was included as an option but will be removed with PC/OS 2009.4. I set the XFCE desktop as the default and if you go ahead and at the login screen choose XFCE from session it will default to XFCE. Myself and the rest of the team have decided that XFCE has reached that level of maturity where all GNOME tools can now be removed safely.
