Okay, this is strange. Yesterday I posted a reply, and today it's missing.

It's now the 18th of July, and still no word that it's been released, nor is it available on the download mirror.

I don't know what's going on, but it's rather disconcerting. If there's a delay, it would be nice to hear from the team.

pcos08? You still out there? I haven't received an email asking me to come back to the forums in a while, and I've been busy with a move and wedding plans; just got the computer up and running yesterday.

I hope this posts,

I'm getting theses as well. Shame really, all the guy has to do is show up and answer some questions and give some support to his product and he would have plenty of people in the forum and using his Distro.

Well, as far as I understand, it's not pcos08's distro, he's just the most visible member of the team. With his visibility gone to nil, it's rather disconcerting.

I like this distro for a number of reasons, the main one being that I don't have to install a whole lot of things for it to work the way I want it to, and I don't need to remember extra passwords to do administrative stuff (less passwords is good, now that my fiance` has an account on the computer - she's no Linux officianado, she just wants a few programs to allow her to do what she wants to do, and I've been able to set those up for her.)

Regardless, more consistent communication would be helpful, so might a repository where we could do upgrading of these point distros online via Synaptic or Apt (not that I don't like the CD distros, but so far there doesn't seem to be a way to update what you've got from the CD/DVD distros, you have to reinstall everything).

Perhaps if enough of us voice our concerns, we might have some response.

Hello,
I agree this lack of support on the forum is quite frustrating, since I think this is really a good distro, especially for newbies to Linux like me. I also mailed Roberto some days ago about a problem I was having with the screensaver but till now I got no reply (btw; was anyone able to set screensaver working on Pc-os? I have tried on my three pc's with no success; if anyone was able to make it work drop me a line pls. Update: I have finally succeded in getting the screensaver work :D , that was related to a XFCE bug, if this is of interest it's sufficient to include the command gnome-screensaver to the autostarted applications via Settings manager; be sure to have set the screensaver before using the same Settings Manager).
Mine is just a guess but I think the team is reduced and is not working on this project full time (they have to make a living on a regular job and they cannot simply rely on donations...). I guess they are more focused in making the all necessary updates/refinements on fortcoming releases rather than supporting on the forum.
Anyway , for the update issue I have downloaded the Maintenance Pack3 and bunrnt on a disc the folder with the deb packages. Then I have installed all upgrade using disc content via Synaptic. the whole thing was easy to do (in any case if you download the Main.Pack3 just have a look on the read me 1st file, where the various updgrades procedures are explained.
Being based on Ubuntu I just do updates from time to time via terminal (didn't find an option for autoupdate; that should be an issue to be fixed in future releases) by typing
sudo apt-get update

and next

sudo apt-get upgrade

If I am not wrong this should catch all missing updates and install them automatically.

Hope this helps,
Antonio

Alright guys, PC/OS 2009.3 had been delayed I have had several family and health issues that needed to be dealt with PC/OS WebStation 2.0 is on the download servers, PC/OS 2009.3 will be posted by Saturday for a more public release by Monday. Sorry about the "lack of support" I need someone who would be willing to help out the community whenever I have a long absense as I did.

Welcome back, pcos08! Hope you've resolved all personal issues happily and satisfactorily. I'm eagerly anticipating the latest, greatest pcos release; despite what some of the trolls on the board have said recently (sometimes quite crudely), pcos really does offer a superb, reliable out-of-the-box Linux OS.
