Failure to boot

Postby amral on Mon Jan 26, 2009 8:02 am

Hi Roberto,
Have downloaded and burned the latest pc-os-od2009v2 iso.
On bootup, I get the graphical screen with boot options. Just let it time out for 30 seconds to boot up, but I'm getting this error message "Error code 13: Invalid or unsupported executable format. Press any key to continue." Can't get past this point. The previous version boots up without problem. Any ideas why this is now happening.
Cheers,
RC

You have to download OpenDesktop from the ibiblio servers, for some reason trhe mirrors keep flaking out on me. Please note this has been discussed and being rectified. Also, PC/OS 2009v2 has NOT been released. If someone is passing off an ISO as PC/OS 2009v2 it isnt. Please send any links or details my way if someone is doing this. My beta testers and insiders know not to post ISO's of the beta releases and they dont.

Hello Roberto,
I downloaded the latest version from your website and assumed it was version2. My mistake, sorry!
However, I still can't get it to boot. Error 13 (whatever that means) still pops up and prevents loading. I re-burned the iso on another machine using ImgBurn and when I run it on that machine I get the same error 13 as I do on my laptop. Could something have changed from the November release that may be causing this error.
Regards,
Rick

ps still eagerly awaiting a release using Wubi installer. In the meantime still using Wdos as prime system.

Send me the URL where you are downloading from, there are three different sites and I need to know exactly where. Nothing has changed from the November release as the ISO's are still the same. I have done a data integrity check on the main ibiblio site, downloaded and burned an ISO myself and tested it and it boots fine.

Hi Roberto,
This is where I downloaded the recent one on 26th Jan.
ftp://linuxfreedom.com/pcos/files/pc-os-od2009.iso

I'm also having some shutdown issues with some other distros that previously worked fine. Beginning to think I may have some other problem with my machine that is causing these inconsistencies. If you are not having similar probs, don't investigate further as I don't want to waste your time chasing ghosts.
Kind regards,
Rick :)
