application menus editing

application menus editing

I know where to find the xml file for the app menus (menu-cache--home-adminuser-.config-xfce4-desktop-menu.xml)
but when I re-arrange them into the order I like nothing happens they stay the same(even after reboot). So how how I get the menus to change to the order I want them in.
